Rakuen no Yama Sake

Beverage Branding Project | Instructor: Richard Salcer

RAKUEN NO YAMA is a premium Japanese sake crafted with locally sourced rice and spring water from the mountains of Japan. The serene landscape of the Japanese highlands is reflected in its delicate balance - not too heavy, not too light - but always awe-inspiring. With every sip of RAKUEN NO YAMA, you'll be transported to a world of pure bliss.

RAKUEN NO YAMA is a mock up beverage brand for Richard Salcer’s Product & Promotion course. In this project, the object is for teams to create overall brand identities for collections of beverages. Each team’s brand identity should consist of a brand logo/typographic/imagery approach. This should appear on each individual container and outer packaging, alongside individual graphics that support the look of a flavor or style. A collection of 3 wines or liquors. Each wine or liquor will have its own label. For each bottle, an individual gift box will be created for it. Each team member will create a bottle and a gift box.

My team and I decided to go for Sake, a typical Japanese alcoholic beverage, and decide to market it to senior sake-lovers and international markets. After thorough market research, we decided on creating a brand that will pique the interest of our target audience with mature, clean, and minimalistic aesthetics. We were inspired by Japanese textile patterns, old sake barrels, and the Kanso (簡素) aesthetic, meaning simplicity and elegance.

We pride ourselves on excellent craftsmanship, our eye for detail, and amazing teamwork. We divided our work among 3 people and I decided to focus on building the concept, creating the graphics (logo, typography, label design, wrap design, etc.), and overlook the production phases. RAKUEN NO YAMA is a team effort and we are delighted to be able to present the final product in class.
